Wingham’s New Play Area 2017

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our new Award-winning Play Area and Multi-Use Games Area happen:-

  • Resident volunteers – for clearing weeds and rubbish to make space;
  • Our Tree Warden – for carrying out the work on trees and hedges inside the play Area to make room for the new equipment;
  • Councillors Graydon, Prebble and Redfearn – for help with arranging clearance of rubbish, fencing, weeds, etc;
  • Local businesses – Ovendens, Trevor Bradley – for providing equipment to help with removal of rubbish;
  • Recreation Ground Committee – for providing welfare facilities for Playdale Playgrounds during construction;
  • and to anyone else I haven’t mentioned!

An official opening of our new Play Area and Multi-Use Games Area took place on Sunday 10 September 2017 PLUS the project was recognised at the Fields in Trust 2017 Annual Awards as winner of the Best Play Initiative Award.  Parish Council Chairman Cllr Bryan Curtis and clerk Kerry Coltham attended the event at Lords Cricket Ground in November 2017.

The FIT award and plaque are currently on display in The Politician’s Daughter cafe shop on the High Street before being permanently homed in the Village Hall meeting room.
